Teacher tips
- • Pair every counting activity with a movement (clap, hop) — body and brain learn together.
- • Use ten frames daily; they pre-wire place value without ever saying the words.
Parent tips
- • Count everyday objects together — stairs, snacks, socks. Math is everywhere.
- • Celebrate the try, not just the right answer. Confidence comes before accuracy.
If a child is struggling
- • If a child reverses numbers (e.g. 13/31), slow down and use ten-frame visuals — it's a working-memory cue, not a deficit.
